Moments ago, we loaded trucks with more than 45,000 pieces of mail, and on the next days that are few USC’s admission decisions for the class of 2017 is going to be revealed.
As I reflect on our work, I discover how quickly the tables have turned: high school seniors were waiting with nervous anticipation to hear from us, now we’ll be anxiously waiting to hear from their website. We realize that the pupils we’ve admitted are among the best on earth. All have numerous excellent choices for university and we can scarcely wait to find out who will accept our offer and join the Trojan Family.
Getting our decisions within the mail is the culmination of many months (and tens-of-thousands of hours) of work. I’m incredibly proud of this whole USC Enrollment Services team—for its dedication, work and professionalism. The group of students that people have identified for admission is the best in USC’s 133-year history!
And speaking of incredible students, listed here are merely a few facts about this year’s admitted freshman class:
• 19.6% of applicants were admitted
• significantly more than 3,100 different high schools are represented
• Our admitted students come from every U.S. state, the District of Columbia and 79 various countries
• Outside of California, the five most represented states are Texas, Illinois, nyc, Washington and Massachusetts
• Outside the U.S., the most represented countries are China, South Korea, India, Canada and Singapore
• 1-in-9 may be the first in their family to attend college
• 64percent are students of color
• 17% are international students
• The typical admitted student comes with an un-weighted high college GPA of 3.8. With weighting, the GPA is well over 4.0.
• The conventional admitted student took 6-8 AP courses (assuming these people were offered at his or her senior school)
• 75% of our admitted pupils have standardized test ratings in at least the percentile that is 95th
Thank you for coming on this journey with us. Irrespective of the result, we’ve certainly enjoyed getting to know each and every applicant over the year that is last. On behalf of all of us at USC, i do want to wish every prospective student the best of fortune as they begin this next exciting chapter of their lives.

I’m a Spring Admit! Now Just What?
The hold off is finally over! You received the long-awaited thick envelope from USC along with your admission decision inside and started it excitedly to see you had been admitted to the springtime term. I’m sure many of you thought, ‘What exactly is a spring admit, anyway?’ We recognize that this will be a little of the surprise and quite possibly disappointing, which can be exactly why I’m here to tell you that you’re truly loved and accepted just like much at the learning students admitted to the fall term! Believe me once I say we were excited to admit you and tend to be hoping you will join the Trojan Family.
Spring Admit and recent alumna Rachel Hirsch ’11 said it best:
‘we think what’s most important to get across to Spring admit students is that isn’t USC’s means of suggesting they don’t want at this point you. They do. They accepted you and to also be viewed being an applicant for this educational school is an accomplishment in it of itself. Also to be admitted! Kids would kill for this place. I know it feels like a tiny kind of rejection but it is not. I would not have exchanged my spring acknowledge status for anything. It allowed me to truly have a little more time after high college to appreciate most of the change that is inevitable was ahead and it provided me with some real life experience (as cliché as that sounds). You’ll have some of the best years of your lifetime walking on campus and going to football games and producing a college that is complete for yourself.
Should you want to go here, go because it’s clear USC wants you.

So, congratulations! Pupils who are admitted towards the spring term make up a part that is important of inbound freshman class. Although we are not able to admit every student to the fall semester, we could admit some amazing students to the spring semester.
