I began composing this piece using the intention to know why some black colored men purposely choose never to date Black women. We whole-heartedly think numerous interracial relationships are created in love (my dad is Ebony and my mom is of Hispanic and Palestinian decent), but when I talked to more and much more Black men, We understood a lot of their thinking behind their choice up to now outside their race ended up being rooted in passed on stereotypes and beauty biases which are not just untrue, but hurtful.
“whom wants to cope with a lot of eye-rolling and neck snapping?” stated one guy within a clear discussion. We appreciated their sincerity, however it led us to think about him as weak-minded. I was thinking of the expression my grandmother would say: “If the heat can’t be stood by you, remain from the kitchen area.” a woman that is fieryn’t for all and now we should always be thankful as soon as the poor split on their own.
“My mother said that when a woman can’t develop her locks, it is because she’s perhaps not healthier,” revealed another misinformed Black man. Sadly, it became a theme that is running these interviews that the guys we questioned had been taught particular beauty biases from the one and only their very own moms. It was a unsightly reminder just how self-hatred is indeed deeply engrained within our psyche.
